Very Reverend Oscar Christian Amoah, former Dean of the Saint Cyprians Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi, has been elected as the new Bishop Coadjutor for the Kumasi Anglican Diocese.
Bishop Coadjutor is a Diocesan Bishop in waiting and Bishop Amoah, would take over as the new Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, when the current Bishop, Most Reverend Professor Yinkah Sarfo retires from office early next year.
Very Rev. Amoah, 62, was ordained as Deacon on the 17th of October 1998 and as a priest on the 18th of October 1999.
He was born in August 1958, and trained as a professional teacher.
He was the former Principal of Wiaso College of Education at Sefwi Wiaso, former Headmaster of Ofoase-Kokoben Senior High School, Assistant Headmaster Administration as well as Chaplain of the Anglican Senior High School in Kumasi.
He also served as the Chaplain for the Nsutaman SHS at Nsuta.
As Bishop Coadjutor, Very Rev. Amoah, will among his duties testify the sovereignty of Jesus Christ, guard the faith, ensure unity and discipline of the Church.
He will also celebrate and provide for the administration of the sacrament of the New Covenant and to be a wholesome example to the entire flock of Christ.
During his Episcopal Ordination and Consecration at the St. Cyprians Cathedral in Kumasi, Very Rev. Amoah, called on Christians to pray for peace in the December 07 general elections.
He also called on the Electoral Commission to work to ensure transparent, free and fair elections.
Very Rev. Amoah expressed worry over the resurgence of the COVID–19 pandemic in the country and appealed to the public to take the preventive protocols seriously by wearing the nose mask and keeping strict hygienic practices.
