PRESIDENT, SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST PRAYS AND READS THE BIBLE TO PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO.

Since assuming office on the 7th of January 2017, President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo has demonstrated his love for God and commitment to the gospel of Christ. In many ways, he reveals his passion for religious growth particularly Christianity. This is evident in his campaign slogan for 2016 elections and his commitment to build a Cathedral against all odds.

In like manner, President Akufo-Addo, received the President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mr. Ted N. C. Wilson and after a short meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes with Mr. president and his cabinet, Mr. Nelson read Micah 6: 8 and said a prayer for Mr. President his team and family. Mr. Joe A. Hagan, a church leader for public affairs, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception at the Jubilee house describing it as unusual.

““Normally, it doesn’t happen this way, you might get one person, the President, or the Vice President. This has been very, very tremendous.”

President Akufo-Addo spoke about the peaceful and accommodating nature of Ghanaians, “we are a country where even though the overwhelming majority are Christians, we have a significant Muslim population, and there are still a few who are committed to the old gods,

“They make up the population, and we live here in harmony and tolerance of each other. “It is one of the distinctive features of our country, and it is one that we want to preserve.”

Mr. Nelson read the bible with President Akufo-Addo and other staff who were present and said a short prayer to end the meeting.

Ghana is home to the largest number of Seventh Day Adventist members in Sub-Saharan Africa. It has a total of 342,000 members.

Mr. Nelson visited Ghana as part of a three-week tour to five countries including Jordan, South Africa, Malawi and Angola.
